Local attractions
THE CROFT HOUSE MUSEUM Experience a typical Shetland way of life from around 1870. Take a walk through the past at the internationally famous Archaeological Site of Jarlshof, from late Bronze age to Medieval. Be amazed at what the Archaeologists have revealed at the Old Scatness Broch and Iron-Age village. Mousa Broch is the finest surviving example of a 2000 year old tower. Take the boat trip across and who knows, you may see Orcas. Quendale Mill, now restored and having a visitor centre and gift shop, explains how it operated in the late 1860s.

SCOUSBURGH SANDS Just one of many fantastic beaches in Shetland. You are likely to see seals, porpoises and sea birds and you might glimpse an otter! At the nearby Peerie Beach you will find more seals and leaping sea trout. |
|
ST NINIAN'S ISLE This is one of the best examples of a tombolo anywhere. Walk across the "sand road" that links the island with the mainland. |

Finally, why not unwind in our own garden... |
FITFUL HEAD Magnificent walking straight from the house. Why not take a packed lunch and walk up to Fitful Head from where you can see all of the South Mainland, Fair Isle and Foula and all along the West coast of Shetland? Return in time for tea and home-bakes, followed by an evening meal.
LOCH OF SPIGGIE Just a few minutes walk from the B&B lies the RSPB Reserve of Spiggie Loch, just one of several superb bird watching areas in the area. Others are the Pool of Virkie, Loch of Hillwell and Sumburgh Head, home of the Puffins and other sea birds. The loch also provides excellent trout fishing.
